After Hours Youth Group

Youth Leader, Deborah, with members of the After Hours Youth Group.

The youth of the church, aged 14-19, enjoy their own programme of meetings and events, under the supervision of their own youth leader.

After Hours meets every alternate Friday. From what we hear they have a great time.

We asked Tom, a member of the Group, to share what After Hours means to him:

"In many ways I have the same problems as anyone else my age. Exams, stress, etc.. But my Mum has been bed-bound with ME since the birth of my little sister 7 years ago. This is obviously difficult to cope with, since my Dad must work from home, and often we don't have a large income. I've also got to spend a fair amount of my free time looking after my sister, as Dad is with Mum a lot of the time.

Since I've started coming to this Youth Group, I've found it has helped me grow in my faith by discussing it with people my own age. It has also helped me realise just how much people in my church care for me and my family, and has helped me form stronger relationships with them as a result."

We give praise to God that no less than three young people who have attended After Hours (Simon, Tim and Sam) have been lead by God to study at The Bible College of Wales in Swansea, and a fourth, Emma, has just completed a 9 month period of study and training at the Riverside School of Performing Arts in Birmingham.  You can read all their testimonies at Christian Training.

Let's give Deborah the final word: "As Youth Leader, it's a joy to work with these young people. It's so exciting to watch them mature as disciples of Jesus and to see them supporting each other."
