Repatriations

An all too familiar sight in our High StreetSadly, our town of Wootton Bassett is too often in the news for the wrong reason.

Soldiers killed in Afghanistan are repatriated to nearby RAF Lyneham and their bodies pass through our Town on the way to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Many people from our Town line the High Street to honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. They are joined by many from further afield and members of the families of those who have lost their lives.

Our Church Administrator is notified by the Town Council of the dates of all repatriations and he in turn passes on the details to members of the church so they may join those who honour our war-dead.

Our monthly prayer diary details the names of those who have died so that our church members can pray for the families of those who have fallen and for those who are still serving in Afghanistan. We also pray for the many wounded servicemen receiving treatment and those who care for them. We pray for the Christian Padres who serve alongside the members of the Armed Forces and MOD civilians and their work and Christian witness.  We also continue to pray for peace to come to this troubled nation and the nation of Iraq.

We invite those who are reading this web-page to join with us in prayer and intercession. Below are the names and other details of those who have died during the period August, 2009, to the present day.
